A few helpful starting points
The essentials, before you set out.
Good to know
Small questions.
Clear answers.
The app appears as Bodh Gaya beneath its icon. Its App Store name is My Bodh Gaya.
What works without the internet?
Place guides and their images, search, suggested journeys, Buddhist teaching introductions, the reflection timer, and saved or visited places work offline.
Apple Maps imagery, directions, and external source links may need internet access. Calling requires a compatible device and phone service. Photos of places are bundled with the app; they do not need to download as you browse.
How do I use Nearby or turn location off?
In Explore, choose the Nearby sort option. You can also request your position from Map. The app asks for location permission when you choose these features and uses a single position to sort places or centre the map.
If access is denied, the full guide remains available. To change permission, open your device’s Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Bodh Gaya. Nearby order uses straight-line distance, rather than a walking route.
Where are my saved and visited places?
Open the Saved tab and choose your saved or visited collection. On a place page, use Save place or Mark visited to change its status.
These choices are stored on the current device. The app has no account or its own cloud sync, so preferences are not automatically shared between devices. Removing the app or resetting its local data removes these choices.
How do I reset or delete my local data?
From Today, open the information button to reach About. Choose Reset local app data, then confirm Reset saved and visited places. This clears your saved and visited lists and the welcome-screen preference.
Deleting the app also removes its local data from that device. Offloading can preserve it. Backups are managed through your Apple settings. For support-email deletion requests, contact admin@technoforbes.com.
Why does the reflection timer pause or stay silent?
The timer in Stillness is a simple, silent session of one, three, or five minutes. It does not play a bell or background audio.
It pauses when the app leaves the foreground. Return to the open session and choose Resume when you are ready. Reset the session before choosing a different duration. If you navigate back out of the timer, opening it again begins a fresh session.
Maps or directions won’t open. What can I try?
Check your connection and try again. If an external handoff fails, search for the place by name in your preferred maps app. Map pins are approximate orientation points; confirm the actual visitor entrance and route locally.
You can keep reading the bundled guide without map access. Guide text and photographs do not depend on live map loading.
How can I report incorrect information or an image issue?
Email admin@technoforbes.com with the place or page name, the suggested correction, and a source or date of your visit. For image-credit or permission concerns, include the image and the relevant rights information.
You can also use Prepare a guide correction in About to create a note for sharing. That action does not automatically send a message to the developer.
Hours, fees, transport arrangements, and venue rules can change. Confirm important details with the venue or provider. Bundled guide corrections are delivered through app updates.
The app isn’t working as expected. What should I send?
First, check for an app update and try closing and reopening the app. If the issue continues, email us with:
- The screen or place where it happens and the steps to reproduce it.
- Your device model, iOS or iPadOS version, and app version shown in About.
- A screenshot, if useful, with personal information removed.
Please avoid reinstalling until you have considered your saved places, because deleting the app removes local app data. Do not send passwords, payment details, or other sensitive information.
Which languages and devices are supported?
The current guide is in English and supports iPhone and iPad running iOS or iPadOS 17 or later. Korean and Japanese translations are not currently included.
The app supports system text-size and appearance settings. If you encounter an accessibility issue, please describe the screen and the assistive feature you were using.
