Privacy policy

Your journey
is yours.

Explore without an account. Your saved places stay on your device. There are no advertising or third-party analytics SDKs. Optional online maps contact the map providers described below.

01Scope and contact

This policy applies to My Bodh Gaya, the independent city and pilgrimage guide for Android (package com.mybodhgaya), and this support website. The app’s name beneath its icon is Bodh Gaya.

For privacy questions or requests, contact the app developer at admin@technoforbes.com. Help with app features is available on our support page.

The app does not operate a developer backend and does not automatically send your personal information, saved places, reading activity, or timer use to the developer. Support emails and visits to this website are described separately below.

02What stays on your device

The app stores the identifiers of your saved and visited places and whether you have completed the welcome screens. These preferences let the app remember your choices when you reopen it.

Place guides, images, suggested journeys, and Buddhist teaching introductions are included in the app. Search and the silent reflection timer run on your device. The app does not maintain a developer-held profile of the places you visit or the teachings you read.

There are no accounts, advertising SDKs, third-party analytics SDKs, or cross-app tracking. The app does not sell personal information. It does not provide its own cloud synchronization. Android cloud backup and device-transfer backup are disabled for this app.

03Location is your choice

When you choose Nearby sorting or request your position on the map, the app asks for permission to use location while you use it. It requests a single position and holds it in memory to sort places by distance or centre the map.

The app does not store a location history, track location in the background, or send your position to the developer. You can decline permission and continue browsing all guide content.

To change access, use Android Settings → Apps → Bodh Gaya → Permissions → Location on your device. Android’s system location provider operates under the provider’s terms and your device settings. The app does not request background location access.

04Maps and external services

Android maps. The app renders maps with the MapLibre Native library. Standard map tiles are requested from OpenStreetMap, and satellite tiles are requested from Esri World Imagery. Opening the Map tab sends HTTPS requests for the map area you view, together with network information such as your IP address, request time, and client software information. If you choose to centre the map on your location, the requested map area can reveal that location to the tile provider. These requests are optional: the offline guide, search, saved places, cultural stories, teachings, and timer can be used without opening maps or granting location permission.

The developer does not receive these map requests and does not operate a map server. Tile providers may retain service and security logs under their own policies; we do not promise that their processing is only temporary or that the developer can delete their records. See the OpenStreetMap Foundation Privacy Policy and Esri Privacy Statement.

Directions. Choosing Open in Maps passes a destination name and approximate destination coordinates to your selected maps application, with a Google Maps website fallback when no maps app is available. The receiving app or website has its own privacy practices.

External links. Opening an information source, image-credit link, or other external link connects you to that website. Its privacy practices apply. Bundled photographs do not contact their source websites when displayed in the app.

Sharing, calls, and copying. Sharing sends the content you choose through the app or service you select. Confirming a call passes the selected number to your device’s phone service. Choosing a copy action puts the displayed contact number on the system clipboard. The developer does not receive these communications through My Bodh Gaya; the selected service’s terms and privacy practices apply.

05When you contact support

If you email admin@technoforbes.com, the support team receives your email address, any name included by your email service, your message, and any attachments you choose to send. Your email provider and the provider used to receive support emails also process the correspondence to deliver and store it.

We use this information to answer your request, investigate reported problems, and review guide corrections. It is not used for advertising or sold. Please share only information needed to explain the issue and remove personal information from screenshots where possible.

Support correspondence is kept for as long as reasonably needed to handle the request and related follow-up, or to meet applicable legal obligations. You can ask for deletion by emailing the same address. We will delete correspondence when it is no longer needed, subject to any retention required by law and the email provider’s backup processes.

06Your choices and deletion

  • Remove individual choices: unsave a place or unmark it as visited in the app.
  • Reset preferences: from Today, open About, choose Reset local app data, and confirm. This clears saved places, visited places, and the welcome-screen preference.
  • Revoke location: change the app’s location permission in your device’s Settings.
  • Remove app data: uninstalling the Android app, or clearing its storage through Android Settings, removes its local preferences. App backups are disabled.
  • Delete support correspondence: email admin@technoforbes.com with your request.

There is no account to close. The developer cannot access, recover, or remotely delete preferences stored only on your device.

07This public website

These pages do not use analytics, advertising, forms, cookies, or browser storage. Styles and illustrations are served from this website, with no external font or image services.

The website is hosted using GitHub Pages. GitHub states that visitors’ IP addresses are logged and stored for security purposes. This is website-host processing, separate from the app’s local data. See GitHub Pages data collection and the GitHub General Privacy Statement.

Clicking an email link opens your chosen email application. No message is sent until you choose to send it.

08Children’s privacy

My Bodh Gaya is a general travel and learning guide and is not designed specifically for children. The app does not ask for a date of birth or automatically collect children’s personal information. If you believe a child has included personal information in support correspondence, contact us to request its removal.

09Keeping this policy current

If the app’s data practices or support arrangements change, we will update this page and its date. Changes that require additional permission will be accompanied by the appropriate notice or permission request.
